Janet & Filly

janet and filly

This was Filly’s second stay with Tracey and her wonderful team of horse lovers. Being able to leave your precious friend with someone you trust is the main ingredient to allow me to enjoy my holiday. Tracey genuinely loves and cares for the horses and I am SO relieved to have found her to leave Filly with. Thank you all so much, and especially thank you for sending me photos of her whilst I was away! xx

Chelsea & Fifi

fifi

Fifi is the second pony I’ve sent to Tracey for riding away after backing. I sent Fifi as she was very anxious under saddle despite taking the backing process very slowly, 8 months to be exact (she was feral in her earlier years). Four weeks with Tracey saw her absolutely blossom into this new confident mare who just loves to please under saddle. Although still green due to low mileage, she’s now turned into my dream horse who is giving me back my lost confidence and we are now training with a classical trainer. Fifi is now going from strength to strength which is absolutely as a result of her going to Tracey for finishing. Tracey keeps you fully updated with regular videos and photos and is happy for you to turn up at a moments notice. Tracey will give you and your pony a 10 star service from start to finish.

Taylor & Sol

sol

Tracey was recommended to me when I was looking for someone to restart my 5 year old, who had had a 2 year break since being lightly started. I was worried about sending him three hours away but I needn’t have been, I got regular updates, nothing was too much trouble and Sol has come home looking fantastic and with a superb eager attitude to his work. Not only that but she took him to his first ever show for me where he got excellent results and enjoyed his day! Over the moon with him and the start Tracey gave him and I’m looking forward to sending her my filly when she is old enough to back.

Elaine & Marmite

I can’t recommend Tracey enough she took our naughty welsh boy and turned him into the perfect child’s pony , he’s still full of character and mischief but now knows his job and can be trusted to do it .

Vicki & Apache

I highly recommend Tracey!!! After I’d recently backed my mare she went to Tracey for schooling livery, where Tracey did an amazing job with her despite the fact she is bitless. Tracey has such a professional, calm, quiet and kind approach with the horses and treats them all like her own.

Teresa & Prinny

prinny

Tracey has been a fantastic trainer for our pony Prinny, she was very green when we first got her and couldn’t even canter under saddle, Tracey has a very kind natured approach to her riding always praising the pony and reassuring her. We now have a pony that is collected in all 3 paces and enjoying her ridden life, I can’t recommend Tracey enough.

Chelsea & Millie

maisie

Tracey is a fantastic producer of ponies. She got our completely dead to the leg pony working lovely in the space of two weeks, with regular updates. I wouldn’t hesitate to send another and I always recommend her to others.

Fran & Dumbledore

When I realised that I had the wrong pony for my daughter, I had a really difficult decision to make. We had only owned him for 4 months but needed to sell him. She was over horsed and he was unhappy. We made the decision to send him to Tracey – she got him back working correctly in just a few days of pony boot camp. Happy pony!! She then made sure that he was only sold to the right person. Everything went so smoothly and Tracey handled everything for us. His new owner has stayed in touch with us and he is proving a fantastic pony for her. Thank you again!!

Above is a picture of Fran’s daughter, enjoying her new pony Ollie!

Janine & Peaches

I can not recommend Tracey enough, we recently sent one of our mares to be backed after having a very successful in hand showing career, it was important to us that we found someone that would take care of our horse as if it were there own and set her on the right path to her ridden career, we had regular updates and videos throughout the whole process, and couldn’t be happier.
We will definitely be sending horses Tracey’s way in the future!

Abbie & India

When I went to view India I didn’t expect much due to her being young and newly broken, when I arrived everyone was lovely and I felt very at ease to check India over, pick her feet up and ask any questions I needed to. To my surprise India was perfect and such an honest pony, after getting her home and settling her in she showed to be exactly as described by Tracey and has the loveliest nature. She settled after a week and Tracey happily answered any queries I had. Overall I am very pleased with the pony I have bought and can’t recommend buying from Tracey enough. Thank you!

We bought Sunny from Tracey in June 2017 after months of searching for the right pony. From our first contact Tracey was professional, helpful, honest and reliable. It was clear that she really cared for all the ponies she looked after. We love Sunny to bits! I would not hesitate to recommend Tracey to anyone looking to buy.

Can’t recommend Tracey McConnell enough!! She is so professional, kind and patient with all the horses she clips on our yard. She does a wonderful job on my mare – who is so relaxed by the whole experience it’s like she’s been at the beauty salon!! Thank you so much Tracey xx

Tracey has been clipping my boy now for 2 years and she does an excellent job. She is very patient, kind and reassuring with the horses. My boy isn’t too keen on clipping under his stomach but Tracey takes her time with him and always gets the job done perfectly. I highly recommend her services to anyone.

I thoroughly recommend Tracey McConnell for schooling livery. We sent our relatively unschooled pony for a total of 4 weeks and from the start she was friendly and professional and our pony was treated like one of her own with the best of care and we could see the progress through regular video and photo diaries that Tracey did for us so we felt like we were almost there at the daily schooling sessions, also we were welcome to visit too. Tracey spent time getting to know us and our pony and our plans for the future so that she could tailor make the schooling to suit. I have recommended her to many people and have no hesitation in sending another pony for schooling in future. Our pony is now doing well in the show ring and we are so pleased.

Here are a couple of my clipping clients, Seri & Billy. Emma’s daughter Charley competes with her ponies in ridden showing, so a super smart appearance is very important!

Tracey is a very experienced and professional rider. She rides very skill fully and is always very kind and patient with my young pony. He couldn’t be in safer and calm hands. No matter what mood my pony is in she always gets the best out of him and I would be lost without her.

I can’t praise Tracey enough. I sent my 5 year old Welsh D to her as we had come to a plateau and couldn’t move forward. Not only did she get him past where we were stuck he went on and on. He looked amazing and felt fantastic to ride. Tracey looks after them like they are her own and even put up with my boys antics, like wearing hay net on his back, rearranging the stable, letting himself out to find breakfast, took it all in her stride. She is an amazing lady

This is Ariel. Tracey McConnell schooled Ariel for last 2 years she is the best. I will not let any one else touch my horse. I trust Tracey 100% with Ariel. She taught her to canter and jump as well . Also she clips her every month as she suffers with feather mites. Ariel trusts Tracey so much. I would not let any one else get there hands on her. You can’t get better than Auntie Tracey, we love you! xxx

Zoe & Taffechan Rough Diamond

sidney

I came across Tracey McConnell Competition Ponies website one evening when googling for ponies for sale. Being keen on Welsh Section D’s, my eye was immediately drawn to one for sale on Tracey’s site. There were pictures and full information about his background. Having spoken to Tracey, we travelled up to see him. The stables were easy to locate and the facilities were sufficient to enable us to try him (having recently been re-backed).
The description and level that Sidney had reached was accurately described and we decided to purchase him. Tracey McConnell Competition Ponies provided all paperwork and passport immediately and we found the whole experience for trying and buying Sidney a very pleasant one.
In the two years we have owned Sidney we have progressed him slowly and now in his second summer he is competing in ridden and workers M&M classes already with a couple of qualifications under his belt. He has not always been the easiest character but he was a project when we bought him and would not swap him for the world.

Catherine & Storm

storm

I sent my Welsh section D gelding (storm) to Tracey early march 2013 for breaking as a very nervous 4 year old who was scared of his own shadow. I was very apprehensive about how he would settle at a new yard and how he would cope with the breaking process. I couldn’t believe how quickly Tracey progressed with him, within 2 weeks he was walking around with a rider on and quite happy and relaxed! He came home after 6 weeks and was like a different pony. During his time with Tracey he learnt to walk, trot and canter, he’d been hacked out numerous times and had done some jumping, he loves his work and I put this down to the brilliant start to his education which he had with his time with Tracey. We plan to spend this year continuing his schooling and the next year hope to start competing in some show classes and dressage next year. Tracey has a real talent with youngsters, she is totally dedicated to the work she does and gets fantastic results from all her hard work and patience and really brought out the best in my boy without rushing or scaring him. She kept me updated through every stage of his training with photos and videos of him working and encouraged me to go and see him every week so that I could be involved at every stage which was fantastic and really made me feel at ease.

The work that Tracey did with storm was second to none as I now have a well behaved youngster who loves his work and is eager to please.
If I was ever to have another youngster then I would definately send him/her to Tracey, she did an amazing job with storm.

Amber & Shadow

After searching through hundreds of ads and travelling to see plenty of mis advertised horses, I finally stumbled across Shadows ad. His picture and description sounded perfect for me but I dismissed it thinking it was too good to be true. However a friend helping with my search asked if I’d seen it and suggested I arrange a viewing saying I had nothing to lose. After previously been miss sold an unsuitable horse and losing a lot of confidence, I was very wary going to the yard. I needn’t have worried though as Tracey was absolutely lovely and put me completely at ease. Everything she told me matched up with the ad and progress section on the website and she was very patient as I asked all my questions. As soon as I got in the saddle I knew he was the one for me and did something I never thought I’d do on a first viewing and say ‘yes, I want him’. I haven’t looked back. He is so tuned into me (a true reflection of Tracey’s schooling), and brought all my confidence back as well as helping me to progress further. We have done some in hand classes already and will be doing some SJ and XC this year. I really can’t recommend and thank Tracey enough.

Karen & Ruby

I sent my 15 year young Mix breed Show Jumping pony to Tracey in March 2013 and i cant believe the difference in my pony… she used to keep her head so high i could the her nostrils as we were riding, i have had a physiotherapist out to her dentist out to her and a new farrier and to no avail… we did find that she had a previous injury from the physiotherapist but nothing that should keep her head so high, the new farrier was a god send and she is now much calmer with having her feet done, and the dentist has not found a problem with her… ruby was with Tracey weeks and i cannot believe the difference in her… she now carries her head in a lot better position and is forming muscles in the right place… in two weeks she had ruby working in an outline in walk and trot and taking to an outline in canter… i could not have asked for a better out come i only wished i could have kept her there for longer but our own finances would not allow it… i am sending ruby back to Tracey next year for more work doing with her… in the short space Tracey had her she has turned my show jumping pony into an all round star we have recently done our first ever dressage test together and got a better score than i could have ever dreamed of getting before sending her to Tracey… the service we received was second to non, ruby must have liked her as it took me 7 months to be able to catch her but Tracey managed it the first day… she was always well presented and we were always kept informed of her progress and had a constant feed of photographs and videos of her working… i would and do reccommend Tracey to every one I meet and talk to as i would have no doubts she has by far the best approach to training these wonderful animals… mine is a complex pony but Tracey and ruby worked together brilliantly… its just a shame we don’t live closer together as i would pay Tracey to come and excercise my darling pony as often as she could. I would say that Tracy has a 5* system and her own ponies are a credit to her and her effort in her work is 1000%… and if my husband would allow and afford to i would buy every one of Tracey’s equine friends as they are all a credit to her and so loving…. job well done Tracey

Kylie and Penny

I purchased Penny from Tracey just over a year ago now and it’s the best thing I have ever done. I had been following Tracey’s website for a while and was very impressed with the quality of ponies. A beautiful welsh section D mare become available and I knew instantly that she was the pony I had been searching for the 3yrs I was looking. I contacted Tracey and arranged to view penny and Tracey was very informative and happy for me to go and see her. I travelled up from Wales and was very happy with Penny so I put a deposit down with intent to bring Penny back to her welsh roots. The yard was very homely with a range of very happy, well looked after horses and great facilities. There was other interest in Penny although Tracey wouldn’t arrange anything until I had seen Penny first. After putting down a deposit Tracey kept me up to date with Penny’s progress, posting video’s even purposely making video’s to show me how Penny did certain things. Tracey even alerted me to some off Penny’s cheeky ways, she was very honest, she was very helpful guiding me through what sizes to buy in tack/rugs as I was a first time horse owner so it helped alot. Me and Penny have had teething problems and Tracey has guided me through them even though the sale was complete. She generally cares and loves every single pony she works with, she is an amazing horse woman that gives 110% effort with every pony. Tracey makes it all seem so easy, she surely does have a gift. I love Penny with every fibre of my being and can’t thank Tracey enough for bringing us together. Next year I fully intend on showing Penny and in the future I would like to foal Penny and will be sending the foal to Tracey for breaking as even in years from now Tracey would love to start Penny’s foal. I would recommend Tracey to anyone who is looking to buy. I continue to follow the website as im amazed by what Tracey does and its so nice to see the progress the ponies make with Tracey.

Teoni and Diablo

I bought Diablo off Tracey in may last year, after spotting him on horse mart and the description was describing the pony that I wanted to own. The stables where easy to locate and the facilities were excellent to try him. Tracey told me that he can be Bolshy to handle as been shown inhand by adults, so I was aware of this before purchasing him. When I went to see and try Diablo he was exactly what Tracey had described him as on the advertisement. Tracey was very honest with us and told me all his cheeky habits. She was very helpful with his saddle size, bit type, size of bit and rugs size. She has been watching Diablos progress throughout the year, And shows a lot of interest in what he does, where he goes and what results he has achieved whilst showing in his first year under saddle. Tracey keeps in touch with me and talks about him asking how he’s getting on and how his is doing.
After a year of owning Diablo he has had many wins under saddle in his first novice year. Including 1st novice m&m out if 12.
I really would either buy a pony off Tracey or send ponies away for schooling as she really does give 100% to everything.

Becky and Phoenix

I  came across Tracey whilst searching for a Welsh Section D, Phoenix was eye catching and there were a lot of photos and information about him. The service provided was excellent, I was told everything about Phoenix and what he had done. Tracey was very friendly and I felt reassured about committing to buying a horse from her.

Phoenix has excellent manners and had a great start with his education allowing me to school him further with no problems . I am currently starting to compete Phoenix in ridden M&M classes and dressage and hope to compete at a higher level with him in the future.

I would highly recommend Tracey, thank you so much!

Karen & Zircon

I first met Tracey 3 years ago when I purchased Sovereign my stunning welsh d from her. When I decided to get another pony the first place I looked was Tracey’s website competitionponies.co.uk . It was on her site that I spotted Zircon a beautiful Connemara gelding. I had no hesitation in contacting Tracey again and felt at ease when around her yard. The whole process of buying a pony can be scary as there are so many horror stories to be heard from many purchases. This wasn’t the case for me and I’m thrilled with both my boys and would confidently recommended competitionponies.co.uk to anyone looking to buy a genuine pony,

Karen (Sovereign and Zircon)

Sally & Princess

When Princess was ready to break I was going to send her to a professional schooling yard in York, but then decided I wanted her  closer to home and somewhere more personal but still with a professional touch. I’ve known Tracey from around the show circuit for a number of years and had witnessed how good she was with her horses and that showed from the results she got at the shows. Princess has had laminitis issues throughout her life so was wary sending her away. Upon speaking to Tracey and visiting her yard I knew she’d be well looked after and the care she would need would be there. I can’t thank Tracey enough for the time, patience and understanding she put into breaking in and bringing Princess on. She’s turned out to be a lovely well mannered pony and I’m sure this is because of Tracey’s hard work, perseverance and dedication to the horses she produces. I cannot recommend her highly enough.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank Tracy McConnell for everything , we first met when we went to view (Peapod) Juliad Dark omen. Tracey had advertised him a we were first to view . I bought him immediately, and was very impressed how although in Leeds Tracey kept us up to date with pods progress. She happily put daily updates on Facebook so we could follow him . We were always made welcome and shown the latest in what was being done at the time. Although a small yard Tracey only takes on  a few so she has quality time with each pony. When I had problems with my Welsh B, Tracey took her in for schooling, and the daily updates started again. Ruby now has a fantastic new home and has taken everything in her stride . I recommended her to a friend and Cindy went . Poddy is due back for some fine tuning in June and Tracey is always on the end of the phone for advice . I can’t stress enough how this young lady runs so professionally her business, and loves her horses. I wont hesitate to recommend her to anyone looking to send their pony away.

Izzie went to Tracey for 4 weeks of schooling, as I did most of it myself but needed help getting Izzie to go forward and work off the leg. Izzie a 3 yr old Welsh D filly who didn’t put a foot wrong when she was at Tracey’s. What can I say Tracey did amazing – excellent job with Izzie and it is nice that Tracey comes out once a week to school her and see her progress. Thank you, see u soon for her jumping training x

I sent my American Paint mare to Tracey for breaking.  I must say that this is the best decision that I ever made.  The mare settled immediately and revelled in the attention that she received.  Tracey has the balance perfectly between calm and patient discipline and kindness.  Tracey has completed a fabulous job on breaking MS Baileys Emphasis, she enjoyed all of the stages and Tracey knows with perfection when they need to go on to the next stage.  Tracey, you are a star and worth every penny of cost.  We will definitely be coming back with any further horses to break or school.  Thank you xxxx
