From Spring 2012 we have been taking in ponies for breaking/schooling/show preparation, throughout the spring/summer/autumn months. This service runs until late September, when my own ponies come in for the winter. We specialise in ponies only, (up to 14.2hh maximum). Whether it be breaking from scratch, schooling in preparation for the coming season, or even just to brush up on certain areas. Unfortunately we do not take known problem horses or ponies (bronkers,  rearers, bolters or wild! I’m too old and no longer bounce!). Please contact me to discuss your requirements.

Holiday liveries are becoming increasingly popular and we offer this service at £14 per night for ponies up to 14.2hh, and £16 per night for over 14.2hh. Included in the price is a full livery service, shavings, haylage and daily grooming / washing where required.  Holiday liveries are not ridden unless requested by the owner. In this case the cost will be charged at schooling livery prices.

Although we are fully insured, I do ask that horses are still insured by their owners before coming to us, and wormed several days prior to arrival. I have numbers for several local transport companies for people with no transport. Please message me for more details.

I do ask if you have tack and rugs, that they are brought with the pony too. I would rather use the ponies own tack than tack sharing where possible. All tack will be cleaned weekly.

Ponies will be worked a minimum of 5 days a week, and groomed daily. Also their work will be varied including lunging, long reining, schooling, pole work and some desensitising sessions. I am more than happy for owners to visit their ponies as often as they like to see their progress. For those further a field I can take plenty of videos to keep you updated!

I would say to break a pony from scratch it would be roughly 6-8 weeks. However some ponies take to it much quicker than others and some need more than 8 weeks. I do not like rushing a pony as this can do far more harm than good and will just spoil them. With this in mind I try to work at their pace and find they progress much better.

I have been breaking and schooling my own ponies for many years and enjoy helping other people with theirs. At only 5’1″ and under 9 stone, I am small enough to exercise most ponies over 12hh. I am a quiet sympathetic rider and feel I can bring the best out in ponies. I have shown under saddle from an early age and have gained a great deal of  ring craft knowledge with both show ponies and M&M’s.

Due to the amount of ponies in now at my own yard, I am no longer offering outside schooling services at your yard. This has been very popular over the last few years, but I sadly do not have the time to travel anymore.

Please call 07917131526 or email me at info@competitionponies.co.uk  I will happily answer all enquiries sent by text also.

*** THERE WILL BE A BOOKING FEE of £65*** This is due to some people cancelling last minute after holding a space for so long. The first week your pony is at my yard, the cost will then be £100 as opposed to £165. After week 1, the cost will be £165 per week, for as long as your pony is here, this is paid on a weekly basis.

Please see my testimonials page for peace of mind, or call in and watch me at work. We love visitors and are proud to show off our youngsters!!!
